Virtual Studio Tour

The Radio Nene Valley Studio complex is now about twenty years old. In the complex we have two control studios (that means they have mixing desks), one interview studio as well as our reception, record library and rack room.

The page gives you the chance to go on a virtual tour of our studio complex.  Below is a plan of our studios.  Click on the button next to the room you would like to view.  Once the view of the room is complete click the arrow to return to the plan.

We equip our studios with professional audio equipment as we've found that domestic equipment does not stand up to the constant use in our studios . The Studio's are maintained by our Technical officer and anybody he can commandeer to help.

Our current desks are about five years old, so don't require that much maintenance. We would expect the current desks to last at least another 5 years. The last upgrade to  our studios was when we converted them from NAB cartridge players (sometimes known as jingle machines) to mini disc players for playing station jingles.

All studios are equipped to play many different music formats with CD players, Mini Disc players, Cassette and record turntables, although our record turntables are seeing less use these days.

Each Studio also provides a computer for the presenter, this provides access to our record library, news and weather updates and access to music charts going back to the 1960's. The computers also display Patient requests that may have been made via our website at www.radionenevalley.co.uk.

Our Studio complex has two
broadcast Studios.

Both Studios are equipped with
Sonifex mixing desks.

Jingles or Station indents in the
past were played using Cart machines. Now they are played from our Mini
Disk Players

All three studios are linked to an
central on Air & microphone status
and control system.

The studio outputs are routed to our distribution rack room where the output goes through a sound processor

The distribution rack also allows us to
change the audio routing.

When our studios are off-air the
play-out Computer takes over and
allows us to provide entertainment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
